Nagpur: Max, the NDPS (narcotic detection) dog, helped police recover ganja from an alleged woman peddler residing in a slum area opposite Meetha Neem Dargah in Civil Lines on Thursday. The specially trained canine, working with women’s team led by an assistant police inspector and anti-narcotics squad, was part of the team that carried out checks in the slum. Initial frisking and searches did not yield any contraband. However, when the tracker canine was deployed for a detailed search inside residence of Naziya Khan, it immediately alerted the team. Following Max’s precise indication, police recovered three packets of ganja hidden on the premises. The detection dog’s ability to identify even small quantities of narcotics proved vital in this intelligence-driven raid. Further investigation is on to determine the quantity and quality of the seized ganja, trace its source, and identify any wider network.A case has been registered against Khan and two of her accomplices.
