Nagpur: Mathura, the rape victim whose case changed the very legal system dealing with custodial sexual assault, has been extended help by Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited (LMEL) — the company that operates in Gadchiroli district where she lives.Now 72, Mathura had been living in poverty, even struggling to get basic needs. LMEL chairman Mukesh Gupta has disbursed financial aid to the tune of Rs 5 lakh to her through the company’s CSR initiatives. The funds are aimed to help her build a safe house apart from addressing her other needs, said a press release by LMEL.LMEL’s managing director B Prabhakaran said Mathura’s troubles had not been met with enough compassion. It is deeply painful to witness someone of her significance still striving to get basic dignity.She has also been allotted the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to get her long-term housing support through the government.
