Several thousand people marched to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, 63 years after Martin Luther King Jr made his famous “I have a dream” speech. The event, titled “March on Washington 2026: Defend the Vote”, called on strengthening voting rights.

The BBC’s Tom Bateman spoke to attendees about the significance of this march ahead of the midterm elections.
