Daltonganj: Latehar police have recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) based on inputs provided by two arrested Maoists, it said on Thursday. The arms were hidden 1.5 feet below the earth in Mirchaiya Forest of Garu range in PTR.The seized weapons included three rifles, including an Insas and an AK-30, 170 live cartridges, three magazines and an ammunition pouch.Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav on Thursday said two veteran Maoists, Mirtunjay Bhuiyan (42) and Bablu Ram (22), were arrested on Mar 14. While Mirtunjay was a zonal commander with Rs 10 lakh bounty on head, while Bablu carried Rs 2 lakh reward.An FIR was registered against them at Chhipadohar police station on Mar 14 before being forwarded to judicial custody. On the same day, police took him on five-day remand for questioning, said SP. “Both confessed to their history of naxal crimes and gave us leads about the hidden arms and ammunition which they had buried under different police station limits of Garu,” he said.On the day of their arrest, police had recovered AK 47, 21 rounds of live fire, wireless set, radio, tab, two watches, four SIM cards, Maoist literature and audio clips.
