Gurgaon: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal met minister Sanjeev Arora at Bhondsi jail on Monday, where he is in judicial custody in an alleged Rs 100-crore fake GST billing and money laundering case.Mann and Kejriwal reached the jail around 2pm and left 40 minutes later amid heavy security, with Haryana, Delhi and Punjab police vehicles escorting their convoy. Neither leader spoke to the media. The two had met Arora at the jail on May 23 as well.Sources said the two leaders assured Arora of their support and discussed Punjab elections during the meeting.On May 9, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Arora from his Chandigarh residence after raids in Gurgaon, Chandigarh and other Punjab cities in connection with the alleged racket. He has remained in judicial custody since then.The ED filed a chargesheet before a PMLA court in Gurgaon on July 6, accusing Arora of being the alleged kingpin of a fake iPhone export scam. The agency alleged that iPhones were falsely shown as exported to Dubai using bogus purchase bills and export documents to launder money.According to the chargesheet, around Rs 100 crore was allegedly shown as money received from Dubai through sham export transactions. This included Rs 87 crore in purported export remittances and Rs 16 crore in IGST and duty drawback refunds. The ED alleged that fictitious procurement, related overseas buyers and circular movement of funds were used to structure the transactions.The alleged iPhone sales were valued at over Rs 150 crore, with phones worth more than Rs 100 crore exported to a Dubai-based company that invested in Arora’s realty firm, sources said.The ED has also attached assets worth over Rs 55 crore linked to Arora and his company Hampton Sky Realty Ltd, including bank accounts, fixed deposits, land, commercial premises and residential apartments in Ludhiana, Gurgaon and Chandigarh.The chargesheet also said an ICICI Bank account that received over Rs 100 crore in export proceeds had Arora as a signatory.
