Lucknow: Temples in the city are being decked up for the Mahashivratri on Sunday. Legend says Lord Shiv and goddess Parvati were married on Mahashivratri.At Mankameshwar temple, the premises are being decorated with LED lights, flowers and artificial colourful plastic strings. Morning arti will be performed at 3:30am on Sunday, while evening arti will be at 8pm. Sabudana khichdi, fruits and makhana will be offered as bhog to the deity. A bhandara of kheer will be organised for devotees. Mahant of Mankameshwar temple, Devyagiri said, “The temple is properly cleaned and white-washed. It will be opened for devotees after morning arti till midnight”.Mahakal temple in Rajendranagar is being decorated with colourful LED lights and flowers. The deity will be decorated with turmeric and sandalwood. Rudrabhishek (offering water or milk to the deity) and Bhasma arti will happen at 4am.Coordinator of the temple committee, Atul Mishra said, “Chappan bhog will be offered to the deity. Prasad will be distributed among devotees.” A 2-day fair on Sunday and Monday will be organised at Buddheshwar temple at Dubagga along with a bhandara. Morning arti will be at 2:30 am and evening arti at 7pm. Fruits, puri, sabzi and kheer will be served as prasad to devotees, said senior vice-president of the temple committee, Arvind Singh.At 51 Shaktipeeth temple, ‘Jalabhishek’ (offering water to the deity) will be performed. Morning arti will take place at 6:30am and evening arti at 6:30pm The deity will be decorated with bel leaves.President of the temple trust, Tripti Tiwari said, “The temple will be opened for devotees from 6:30am till 11pm.”
