Kolkata: More than 25,000 electors in Kolkata North and Kolkata South Parliamentary constituencies, whose names were included in the draft roll, were excluded from the final voter lists published on Saturday, and another 1.4 lakh Kolkata voters are still on the “under adjudication list”.In the Dec 16 draft list, Kolkata witnessed the most voter deletions. In the Maniktala Assembly constituency under the Kolkata North Lok Sabha seat, the names of 5,175 electors were deleted through Form 7 — the maximum for any Assembly segment in 14 Assembly seats in Kolkata North and Kolkata South. Entally and Chowringhee in Kolkata North came second and third with 4,440 and 2,748 deletions.In Kolkata South, Bhowanipore, constituency of chief minister Mamata Banerjee, recorded the highest number of deletions, 2,342. Kolkata Port and Rashbehari were in second and third spots with 1,083 and 1,066 deletions of electors, respectively.According to EC data, in Kolkata North, the names of 17,987 electors were deleted, and the figure stood at 7,386 across seven Assembly segments under the Kolkata South Lok Sabha seat. On the ‘under adjudication’ list, Kolkata South — led Kolkata Port — had the most people placed ‘under adjudication’ at 78,657, and Kolkata North had 61,236 people on ‘under adjudication’ list.Before the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Bhowanipore had 262,095 voters. However, between the draft list and today’s publication, a total of 47,094 names were removed — 44,770 in the draft stage and an additional 2,324 in the final list. This brought the current count to 1,59,201 voters across 267 booths. With 14,154 names still under adjudication, further removals remain a possibility.Kolkata Port, the constituency of Firhad Hakim, has a total of 266 booths. The draft list included 1,79,735 names, while the final roll contains 1,79,239 names, after taking into account new names through Form 6 and 6A. In the Kolkata Port Assembly constituency, 32,378 names are under adjudication. In the Rashbehari Assembly constituency, there are 269 booths. The draft list had 1,60,021 names, and the final roll has 1,58,955 names, including 8,157 electors who are marked as “under adjudication”. In the Ballygunge Assembly constituency, 23,968 names fall under the “under adjudication” category. According to Election Commission sources, approximately 6,26,000 voters were removed from 11 Assembly constituencies under Kolkata North and Kolkata South electoral districts in total. Earlier today, it was revealed that 4,07,000 names were dropped from North Kolkata (3,90,000 in the draft and 17,000 after hearings), while South Kolkata electoral district saw a total reduction of 2,19,207 voters, with 3,207 names specifically appearing on the deleted list. Kasba, Behala East and Behala West, which are under the Kolkata South Parliamentary constituency, fall under the jurisdiction of the DEO South 24 Parganas.
