Mandya: Superintendent of police VJ Shobharani on Saturday cautioned students against experimenting with drugs or other harmful substances, warning of serious physical, mental, financial and social consequences. She said stress, peer pressure, curiosity and negative influences often push youngsters towards addiction, affecting both individuals and their families.Speaking after inaugurating the district-level ‘Nasha Mukt – Yuva Viksit Bharat’ programme at SB Community Hall in Tavarekere, she urged students to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and support efforts to eradicate the menace. The programme was jointly organised by the district administration, zilla panchayat, Mera Yuva Bharat, the department of youth empowerment and sports, Mandya University, the department of school education (PU), and SB Education Trust. Shobharani said the public can anonymously report drug-related activities through the ‘Drugs Free Karnataka’ section of the Karnataka State Police mobile app. She stressed that public participation and timely information are crucial to curbing the drug network.DC Kumara called on youth to lead the movement for an addiction-free society, saying the nation’s future depends on healthy and responsible young citizens.
