Gurgaon: A 45-year-old man died after an unidentified vehicle hit him while he was walking on Chandu Badli Road near a govt school in Budhera village on Friday.Tejendra alias Teju, a resident of Khalilpur village in Pataudi, had been coming to Darshan Ashram in Budhera for the past two years for volunteer work. He arrived at the ashram on Thursday and stepped out for a walk on Friday morning on the main Chandu Badli Road when an unknown vehicle, driven at high speed and in a negligent manner, struck him near the govt school, police said. The vehicle fled the spot, leaving him unconscious.He sustained fatal injuries and died at the spot. Passers-by took him to SGT hospital, where doctors examined him and declared him dead. Anil Kumar, the victim’s cousin, told TOI that the accident occurred around 7am. “Tejender was a volunteer at the ashram and lived with his brother’s family in Pataudi after his separation from his wife. He did not do anything else other than volunteering at the ashram,” Anil said. Police received information about the accident from the hospital and rushed to the mortuary. After the deceased was identified, his family members were informed.Based on a complaint filed by Anil Kumar, a case was registered under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of BNS at Rajendra Park police station. The investigating officer initiated the inquest proceedings under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to investigate the accident.Police said efforts are on to identify and trace the vehicle involved in the accident.
