Gurgaon: A 32-year-old man allegedly strangled his five-year-old son before dying by suicide in Faridabad on Sunday. Family members found Sagar hanging from a ceiling fan with a rope, while his son’s body was tied to his chest in Ballabgarh’s Dayalpur village. Injury marks were visible around Rakshit’s neck, indicating strangulation.After being informed, a forensic team, along with Sadar police station officials, reached the spot to collect evidence. Police said Sagar worked as a driver and lived alone in his ancestral house in Dayalpur. Sagar’s wife Sapna and son Rakshit had been staying separately with his parents at a rented accommodation in Machhgar village for the past six months due to frequent domestic disputes with his family members.Sagar’s father, Roopchand, told police that his son often quarrelled with family members and had a violent temperament, following which they shifted to another village. He said an argument took place earlier in the day before Sagar left with the child.Sagar used to visit his family every weekend and used to take his son out for some time, police said. He visited Machhgar on Sunday morning and took Rakshit with him, saying he would buy food for the child and take him around in Dayalpur. However, he did not return with the boy till evening, prompting the family to search for them.When his parents reached Sagar’s house in Dayalpur, they found the main gate locked from inside. With the help of neighbours, they entered the house by climbing over the wall. The room inside was also locked from within and had to be broken open.A police officer said information about the incident was received around 9.30pm on Sunday. “Preliminary investigation revealed that Sagar’s relationship with his family was strained. The couple married in 2020,” the officer said. The bodies were sent for post-mortem and later handed over to the family. Police spokesperson Yashpal said that a case was registered against Sagar for the murder of his son at Sadar police station.
