Ghaziabad: A 25-year-old man, who allegedly slapped a 23-year-old woman more than five times in Jaipuria mall in Indirapuram, was arrested on Wednesday.Police also recovered a knife from the accused and said that he wanted to stab her but started beating her up when she confronted him. The accused, Sajid, has now been sent to judicial custody.ACP Suryabali Maurya said that the two had known each other for the last three years and worked together before the woman changed her job six months ago to work at a food outlet in Jaipuria mall. Soon after, their relationship got bitter as Sajid suspected her of talking to another man.“The two had a heated argument about his suspicions, following which the woman stopped talking to him for almost a month. On Tuesday, Sajid reached the mall, arranged a knife and tried to attack her. When she opposed him, he slapped her more than five times,” the ACP said, adding the knife was recovered. The entire incident was captured by people at the mall.The woman filed the complaint against the accused on Tuesday night. Police registered the case under sections 109 (attempt to murder), 126 (wrongful restraint) and 352 (intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of peace) of BNS.In a similar incident, a man stabbed a 26-year-old teacher inside a Faridabad school after allegedly stalking her for nearly two years.
