Tirupur: The fast track mahila court in Tirupur on Thursday, sentenced a 46-year-old daily wager to life imprisonment for repeatedly raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter. The incident came to light after the child fell ill and was hospitalised. Doctors who examined her reported sexual assault. Subsequent investigation found that the stepfather had raped her multiple times. Based on a complaint, the All Women Police (South) registered a case under the Pocso Act and arrested him on August 25, 2020. Police later filed a chargesheet before the fast track mahila court. Judge J A Kokila convicted him and sentenced him to life imprisonment and a fine of 50,000. Public prosecutor Parimala appeared for the prosecution.
