Times News NetworkKanpur: Additional sessions judge, Kanpur Nagar, Kanchan on Friday sentenced accused Vishnu, resident of Rawatpur to life imprisonment and imposed fine of Rs 50,000 for committing murder of his brother.The judge in her order observed that Vishnu would have to undergo another one-year simple jail term if he failed to pay the fine. The period he had passed during the trial would be adjusted in the punishment. Vishnu was held guilty on May 26, 2026.According to the additional district government counsel, Seema Rajput, wife of Deepak, the deceased, alleged in her FIR lodged on May 31, 2023 that her husband Deepak used to sell ice at Ekta Crossing, Namak Factory Road. One day around 10 pm. Deepak and his brother Vishnu got involved in some heated arguments after which Vishnu killed Deepak.The post mortem report revealed that the accused had killed Deepak with an iron bodkin (Lohe ka Suja) which is used in breaking the ice bars. The police later seized the weapon used in the murder.
