Mangaluru: The second additional district & sessions court in Mangaluru sentenced a man to life imprisonment in connection with a murder case registered at Mulki police station in 2022.Judge Jagadeesh VN pronounced the sentence on Thursday. Murugan was convicted under IPC Section 302 and sentenced to life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.The case relates to an incident that occurred on March 19, 2022, around 9.45pm, near the tourist car parking area at Mulki in Bappanadu village. Murugan, allegedly murdered Harish Salian,47, a resident of Ullanje, by repeatedly hitting his face with a red stone embedded with cement concrete, reportedly due to a financial dispute.The case was investigated by police inspector Kusumadhar, who filed the chargesheet before the court. ASI Sanjeev assisted in the investigation. The case was argued on behalf of the govt by public prosecutor Jyothi Pramod Nayak.
