Noida: A 24-year-old businessman returned to a guarded multilevel parking facility in Film City on Sunday to collect his barely three-month-old SUV, only to find it defaced with red and white paint from end to end.The black Hyundai Creta, parked in the basement of the Noida Authority-run complex on March 6, was vandalised inside the paid facility despite security and CCTV surveillance.Nirdosh Bhati, a New Ashok Nagar resident who runs a dairy business in Sector 16, said he had bought a monthly pass for Rs 1,500 because he needed to park his SUV regularly at the multilevel facility.“Around Sunday noon, I went to collect the car and was shocked to see it covered in red and white paint. I bought it for Rs 15 lakh on Jan 20,” he said. Two empty paint cans were found near the vehicle, Bhati added. The vandals, he alleged, also appeared to have tried removing the door seals to push paint into the cabin, but did not succeed. Bhati called it a major security lapse and said he now fears someone could plant objectionable items in the vehicle in the future. He said he has no personal enmity with anyone and does not suspect any individual in particular. The parking facility is managed by private firm, MG Infra Solutions. Amit Kumar, the parking supervisor, said CCTV footage showed three men arriving on a scooter at 2.27am on Sunday. “Two were wearing helmets and the third had his face covered with a scarf. They entered through the exit and left the same way a couple of minutes later. The incident was captured on CCTV, and the details have been shared with police,” he added.A senior Authority official said the safety of vehicles was the sole responsibility of the agency running the parking site and that it should compensate for the damage.According to Bhati, the service centre and insurer had told him that paint damage was not covered under any policy.Arvind Kumar, the Sector 20 SHO, said police had registered a case of causing damage by mischief under Section 324 of the BNS against unidentified suspects and were scanning CCTV footage to identify and arrest them.Built in 2021 at a cost of Rs 110 crore, the three-storey Film City parking can hold around 1,400 vehicles and is usually about 80% occupied.
