Buxar: A 62-year-old man and his nephew died, while five others sustained injuries, when a pickup van loaded with straw collided head-on with an autorickshaw on Ara-Mohania NH-319 near Mathia village under Dinara police station area in Rohtas district on Friday night.The deceased were identified as Sri Bhagwan Bind, a resident of Bind Toli village under Basudeva police station in Buxar district, and his 40-year-old nephew Harendra Bind.According to police, Sri Bhagwan, who was suffering from paralysis, was travelling to Gora village in Dinara for treatment along with his family members and others when the accident occurred. The pickup van, coming from the opposite direction, rammed into the autorickshaw, leaving Sri Bhagwan and Harendra critically injured. Both succumbed to their injuries during treatment.Five others, including Sri Bhagwan’s wife Krishna Devi and auto-rickshaw driver Lakhendar Chaurasia of Bhadaur village, were also injured in the crash. Local residents rushed to the spot and informed the police. The injured were taken to Dinara primary health centre and later referred to Sasaram Sadar Hospital for better treatment.Police sent the bodies for post-mortem and seized the damaged autorickshaw and pickup van. The pickup driver is yet to be identified.Dinara SHO Dharmendra Prasad confirmed that two people died in the accident and five others sustained injuries. “We are investigating the circumstances that led to the collision,” he said.
