COIMBATORE: Three days after her younger son murdered her elder son with the help of his friend and a day after the body was found, a 65-year-old woman walked into the PN Palayam police station in Coimbatore district and revealed the crime, which led to the arrest of the culprits.The murdered man has been identified as D Senthilkumar, 45, of Vellamadai near PN Palayam. Police arrested his younger brother, Sampathkumar, 42, and his friend, M Anandkumar, 24, of Vellamadai on murder charges.On Thursday night, Vellamadai village administrative officer (VAO) Karthik,49, alerted police about an odour emanating from a 25-foot-deep abandoned well on a piece of vacant land in Andal Nagar. Police with the help of fire and rescue services personnel retrieved a decomposed body of a man from the well.Initial investigations led police to register a case of suspicious death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, as the identity of the victim could not be established.On Friday, Saraswathi of Andal Nagar walked into the police station and stated that a heated altercation broke out at her residence between her elder son, Senthilkumar, and her younger son, Sambathkumar, on Tuesday night (Aug 4). During the argument, Sampathkumar, along with his friend, M Anandkumar, 24, of Vellamadai, assaulted Senthilkumar and stabbed him repeatedly with a knife, killing him on the spot.After her statement, police altered it into a murder case and arrested the duo on Friday. Investigations revealed that the duo, after murdering Senthilkumar, transported his body on a two-wheeler and dumped it into the abandoned well.They were remanded in judicial custody.
