Kanpur: Three persons were arrested on Monday in connection with the Gwaltoli murder case, while Khalasi Line police outpost incharge was suspended for negligence.The arrested persons were identified as Sahil, his mother Radha Devi and his sister Komal Pal, said DCP, central, Atul Kumar Srivastava.The incident involved a 70-year-old man who lived in the Gwaltoli area along with his wife and two daughters, one of whom was married. The younger daughter said her father suffered a paralysis attack in 2015 which limited his mobility and that her mother supported the family by working as a domestic help. It was claimed that Sahil, a local resident, repeatedly harassed the younger daughter by asking for her phone number. Despite warnings from her father, Sahil did not mend his ways. On Saturday evening, Sahil allegedly forced his way into their home, attacked the man and escaped. The younger daughter said she reported the incident to police and also lodged a written complaint, but no action was taken. When Sahil came to know about the police complaint he along with his sister Komal, brother Karan and mother Radha allegedly entered the house on Sunday afternoon and assaulted the man.During the altercation, Karan allegedly hit the aged man several times on his head and face with an iron cooking pan after which he fell in a pool of blood. After hearing the commotion some neighbours rushed to the man’s rescue, but by then the accused had fled. The man’s daughter and his wife rushed him to a nearby hospital where he died after some time. The daughter filed a written complaint against the three accused at the police station.Srivastava said that Khalasi Line outpost incharge Shubham was suspended and investigation was underway.
