Bokaro: A 43-year-old man who went missing after visiting his in-laws’ house in Chandankiyari was found dead on the banks of Khalis river on Thursday, six days after he disappeared. Police arrested two persons in connection with his alleged murder on Saturday.Konka Gope, a resident of Kashijharia under Pindrajora police station limits, had gone to Uraonadih on Sept 11 to attend his father-in-law’s death rituals. His family said he later left with a relative to buy a goat for the post-funeral meal but did not return. A missing person’s complaint was lodged at Baramsia police outpost on Sept 14.His decomposed and mutilated body was found in bushes near Chariyabhitha village. Family members later identified him. A case was registered on the complaint of his son, Rohit Gope, who alleged that Konka had a land dispute with some relatives.Police arrested Bhagirath Gope, 36, and Bhudev Gope, 32, both residents of Chariyabhitha. They were sent to judicial custody.“During the investigation, evidence pointed to the involvement of the two accused. Bhagirath told during interrogation that the murder was allegedly committed over a land dispute with the assistance of Bhudev,” said Vedant Shankar, ASP (Chas).A forensic team and a sniffer dog squad collected evidence from the crime scene. Police are also examining mobile phone records and other technical evidence. The exact circumstances of the murder and the motive will be established after the investigation and receipt of the post-mortem report.
