The accused later surrendered before the police and confessed to the crime. The accused, Salman Khan (30), a resident of Kalwardha village in Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, had set out in a car with his wife Hasin Bano (28) and their three young children, telling the family they were going on a trip. When the family reached the Samruddhi Expressway near Karanja around midnight, Salman allegedly stopped the vehicle and began arguing with his wife. At the time, their children were asleep in the back seat.Police said the accused had long suspected his wife’s fidelity. During the argument, he allegedly picked up an iron rod kept inside the vehicle and repeatedly struck Hasin Bano on the head. When he realised she was still alive, he allegedly strangled her with a rope. After the murder, Salman reportedly drove around the Karanja area for several hours with his wife’s body still inside the car. In the early hours of the morning, he walked into the Karanja City police station and confessed to the crime. The couple’s three children — a three-year-old daughter, a two-year-old son and a one-year-old boy — have effectively been left orphaned, with their mother dead and their father facing murder charges.Police also suspect that the deceased may have been pregnant with the couple’s fourth child, though this will be confirmed through a postmortem examination.
