Ludhiana: A man was killed and his wife suffered serious injuries after the Celerio car they were travelling in rammed into a road divider on the Moga-Ludhiana road near Jagraon on Thursday.The deceased, Kulwinder Singh, was a resident of Machaki Mal Singh village in Faridkot district. His wife, Kiranjeet Kaur, suffered serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a govt hospital in Jagraon.Sources said that the couple was travelling from Moga to Ludhiana when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into the divider. They added that the impact was so severe that the airbags deployed.Local residents rushed to the spot and shifted the injured couple to the govt hospital in a private vehicle.Sources said that doctors declared Kulwinder Singh dead on arrival, while Kiranjeet Kaur was admitted for treatment.On receiving information, police and a team of the Sadak Surakhya Force (SSF) reached the accident site and assisted in the rescue operation.Police said the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, though preliminary investigation suggests the driver lost control of the car before it hit the divider.
