Sambalpur: A 58-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his relative following an argument over a trivial issue at Masanikani Charapada village under Garposh outpost in Govindpur police limits of Sambalpur district on Monday.The deceased was identified as Charles Lugun (58), while the accused, Patras Danga (50), was arrested by police. The wooden stick and iron axe allegedly used in the attack have been seized.According to Kuchinda SDPO Pradeep Dash, the incident occurred around 10.30 am when an altercation broke out between the two men. In a fit of rage, the accused allegedly assaulted Charles with a wooden stick and an iron axe, leaving him critically injured. He was later found lying in a pool of blood in front of his house.Police said the exact sequence of events and circumstances surrounding the death would be established after examination of forensic evidence and the post-mortem report.
