The elderly man fell ill at the assistant revenue inspector’s office

Taoba Naik (76) died after collapsing at an assistant revenue inspector’s office in Tangarpada under Patna police station limits in Keonjhar district on Tuesday, while seeking polythene sheets for shelter after his house was damaged in rain.According to local residents, Naik had visited the ARI office to collect polythene sheets being distributed to families affected by heavy rainfall. While waiting on the office premises, he reportedly fell ill and collapsed.People present at the spot rushed to his aid, but he was later declared dead.The incident triggered grief in Tangarpada and Badudighara areas, where residents described Naik as one of several villagers affected by rain-related damage to houses.Police said the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. Patna police station IIC Kiran Prasad Sahu said the police had received information about the incident but no formal complaint had been lodged till Tuesday evening.The cause of death will be known after further inquiry and medical examination, police said.
