Udupi: A 40-year-old man, who was undergoing treatment at KMC Hospital, Manipal, after attempting suicide by consuming poison, allegedly jumped from the hospital window on Wednesday. Rajesh R Shetty, a resident of Seebinakere in Thirthahalli taluk of Shivamogga district, had been booked by Thirthahalli police in a dowry harassment case.According to police, Rajesh, reportedly distressed over the case, consumed poison at his residence on Sept 28 and was admitted to KMC Hospital, Manipal, for treatment. His father, Ramesh Shetty, was attending to him at the hospital. At around 4pm on Wednesday, Rajesh allegedly broke the glass window of the HDU MF3 ICU ward and jumped out. Hospital staff managed to rescue him and shifted him to the Blue Area ward for further treatment. Investigation is on.
