Mangaluru: Urwa police have arrested a man and seized 72g of MDMA worth an estimated Rs 7.2 lakh from a car near Barebail in Mangaluru. According to police, based on credible information received on Tuesday, ASI Suketh Kotian, who was on patrol duty, rushed to the road connecting NH-66 at Kuntikana to Barebail, where a man was allegedly selling narcotic substances from a parked car.At the spot, police found a young man sitting in the driver’s seat of a car. During questioning, the accused identified himself as Sambhram, and allegedly admitted that he had come to the spot to sell MDMA to customers.In the presence of witnesses, police searched the vehicle and recovered MDMA, a digital weighing scale, empty zip-lock pouches, and a wallet. During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that he procured the MDMA from his friends Sanjay and Sakshi Shetty in Bengaluru, who, in turn, had sourced it from a Nigerian national. He further claimed that a person identified as Swaroop had paid the Nigerian supplier on his behalf. Police also seized two mobile phones, Rs 3,080 in cash, and the car allegedly used to transport the drugs.The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 15.8 lakh. A case has been registered under the provisions of the NDPS Act, and investigation is on.
