Bhubaneswar: The city police on Sunday arrested a 57‑year‑old man for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 54 lakh on the pretext of selling her a flat.The accused, identified as Prianka Pattajoshi of Baramunda in the capital city, was taken into custody following an FIR lodged at Bharatpur police station last month.According to the complaint, the victim paid Pattajoshi in three instalments — Rs 15 lakh on Sept 10, 2024, Rs 5 lakh on Dec 12, 2024, and Rs 34 lakh on March 20, 2026 — for the promised property.“However, he failed to execute the deal and did not register the flat in her name. Acting on the complaint filed on June 23 and subsequent evidence, we arrested him,” said a Bharatpur police officer.
