T’puram: Paravoor Police arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old autistic girl at her home. The accused is a native of Poothakkulam in Kollam.The police said the accused was known to the survivor and was her grandmother’s neighbour. The incident allegedly occurred last week when the girl was alone at home.The incident came to light after the girl complained of physical discomfort. Her family took her to the district hospital, where a medical examination indicated that she had been sexually assaulted. Following this, the police registered a case and began a probe.The accused has been booked under sections 7 and 8 of Pocso Act, BNS section 75 and section 92(b) of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.The accused was arrested by Paravoor SI Vipin V and was subsequently produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.The man was also an accused in the 2024 case relating to the death of his father. However, he was acquitted by the court in that case.Police said further investigation is underway.
