Kanpur: A 50-year-old has been arrested for allegedly raping his 15-year-old stepdaughter at a friend’s house in Nawabganj, Kanpur, on Sept 1.The girl underwent a medical examination after her mother lodged a complaint. Police registered an FIR under relevant sections, including the Pocso Act.The mother told police that her first husband had died and she had six daughters from that marriage. She later married the accused.According to the complaint, the accused took the girl to his friend’s house and allegedly raped her after the friend stepped out for some work.Bithoor SHO Ashok Kumar Saroj said the matter came to light after the accused allegedly boasted about his actions to his friends during a liquor party. The information eventually reached the mother, who questioned her daughter and confirmed the abuse. She subsequently lodged a formal complaint at Bithoor police station.
