Patna: A man allegedly killed his wife and injured his aunt at Harivanshpur Banthu village under Bhagwanpur police station area in Vaishali district on Friday night. The accused, Dilip Manjhi, was arrested within four hours of the incident, police said.According to police, Dilip attacked his wife, Chandni Devi, with a sharp-edged weapon during a dispute. Their son woke up after blood splattered on him during the attack. Dilip allegedly then attacked his aunt, Dhanmanti Devi, who was sleeping outside the house. She sustained injuries and was taken to Sadar Hospital, Hajipur, for treatment.Police said Dilip also attempted to attack his father, but he did not open the door. The accused fled after villagers gathered at the spot but was later arrested by the police on Saturday morning.Vaishali SP Shubhank Mishra said a police team secured the crime scene and informed the FSL team. He said Dilip admitted to the killing during questioning. An axe-like weapon (gandasa) and a sickle (hansuli) allegedly used in the crime were recovered.The woman’s body was sent to Sadar Hospital, Hajipur, for post-mortem. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances and motive behind the attacks.
