Udupi: A 24-year-old man allegedly assaulted two police personnel and threatened to kill them when they reached his home in Uppoor village, Brahmavar, Wednesday, to execute a pending warrant. The accused, Kishore, was arrested and later remanded to judicial custody.According to the complaint by Suresh Kumar, head constable, Malpe police station, he and head constable Adarsh were deputed by CI to execute a warrant in a case booked under sections 8A(C), 20(b)(ii)A and 22(b) of the NDPS Act.The police reached Kishore’s house around 6.50am. When they called out to him from the courtyard, he allegedly tried to flee. As they caught him, he allegedly hit Suresh Kumar on the face and jabbed his ribs with his elbow. He also allegedly hit Adarsh on the face, scratched his left hand and right abdomen, and punched his left shoulder.Kishore then allegedly snatched the department walkie-talkie from Suresh Kumar and threw it to the ground, damaging it. He is further alleged to have asked his mother to bring a knife and threatened to kill the policemen.Despite the assault, the team secured him under the warrant and took him to Malpe police station. Both constables later received treatment at Udupi District Hospital.A fresh case was registered at Brahmavar police station under sections 132, 121(1), 352 and 351(2) of BNS, and Section 2(a) of the Prevention of Destruction and Loss of Property Act.
