The complainant’s house is opposite the house of Bishwamohan Behera. Earlier, Bishwamohan had dug up a portion of the road in front of his house for drainage and earthwork, which was opposed by Arupananda. On Thursday, workers engaged by Bishwamohan allegedly resumed work. Arupananda’s wife protested against the digging. Despite her protest, the work continued, a police officer said. On Friday night, Bishwamohan, his wife and their son Akash allegedly armed with sticks, assaulted Arupananda’s family, triggering a heated confrontation, polic sources said. Udit, their neighbour, joined them.“Udit and others forcefully entered Biswal’s home and attacked Arupananda and his brother Hadibandhu with sticks and a sword. When Arupananda’s wife protested against the assault, she was also beaten up,” said a police officer.
