Amritsar: Two incidents of violence within 48 hours have raised fresh concerns over law and order in the city, with a man hacked to death outside the railway station and a businessman shot and critically injured in a separate attack.In the first incident, a 27-year-old man, Amardeep Singh alias Giani, was allegedly hacked to death outside Amritsar railway station early on Monday. Police said a dispute among a group of men escalated into a violent assault with sharp-edged weapons. The victim succumbed to his injuries while being taken to hospital.Police have arrested one person in connection with the murder and launched a manhunt for the remaining suspects.In the second incident, businessman Simranjit Singh alias Billa, a resident of Sultanwind village, was critically injured after being chased and shot by armed assailants on the city’s 88-Foot Road on Saturday evening.Police said the victim sustained three bullet injuries and is undergoing treatment. CCTV footage of the attack has surfaced and raids are underway to arrest the accused.According to police, the shooting was allegedly linked to a long-standing rivalry dating back several years.
