Kanpur: A 25-year-old man died after he got stuck in a swamp in a pond in Ghatampur town of Kanpur on Wednesday, police said.Brajesh Sonkar, a resident of the Naubasta Western locality, went for fishing in a pond in the locality along with his companion, Deepu Sonkar. After laying nets, they both were returning towards the bank when Brajesh’s foot sunk in swamp and he started drowning.Deepu tried to pull him out but his feet also got trapped in the swamp. He managed to get out of the pond and raised an alarm. Some locals rushed to the site and pulled Brajesh out after much effort. He was taken to hospital where doctors declared him dead.Brajesh was the third among four brothers.Ghatampur Inspector Manoj Singh Bhadauria said that the body has been sent for post-mortem. “The case is being investigated and further legal action will be taken based on the post-mortem report.”
