Nagpur: The District and Sessions Court recently sentenced Ranjit Nathu Chaudhary, 42, to life imprisonment for the murder of his live-in partner, Sunita Raut, while also convicting him under Section 309 IPC for attempting suicide.The incident occurred on February 26, 2024, at Bidganeshpur village in Hingna taluka, Nagpur district. According to the police, Chaudhary, a resident of Pandhurna in Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh, lived with Sunita (43) as a couple for about 10 years in the MIDC Bori area. After an argument over money, Chaudhary allegedly stabbed Sunita to death. He then attempted to end his own life.API Rajiv Karmalwar conducted the investigation. On Wednesday, district and sessions Judge AK Sharma pronounced the sentence. Besides rigorous life imprisonment, Chaudhary was fined Rs 5,000, with 6 months’ rigorous imprisonment in default.
