Hisar: An additional district and sessions judge-cum-special judge of the fast track court in Fatehabad on Friday sentenced a man to five years’ imprisonment in a POCSO case involving a minor girl, besides imposing a total fine of Rs 50,000.The court, presided over by Additional District and Sessions Judge Amit Garg, convicted the accused under Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He was sentenced to five years’ simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 under each section. The court ordered that both sentences would run concurrently. In case of non-payment of the fine, the convict will undergo an additional three months’ simple imprisonment under each section. The court also directed that Rs 50,000 be provided as compensation for the rehabilitation of the minor victim.During the investigation, police recorded the minor’s statement, obtained and verified documents and school records relating to her age, conducted identification of the place of occurrence and collected other relevant evidence.After completing the investigation, police filed the chargesheet against the accused before the court.
