Kanpur: A 40-year-old man, who was found critically injured at a highway crossroads two days ago, succumbed to his injuries at Dr Rammanohar Lohia Hospital on Tuesday morning.The deceased, Sonu Sharma alias Bilaiya, was a resident of Maseni village in the Kadri Gate police station area of Farrukhabad.His family alleged that he was murdered over an old election-related rivalry and questioned the police’s alleged inaction in the case.Sonu was found severely injured on the highway late Sunday. His brother rushed him to Dr Rammanohar Lohia Hospital and later shifted him to a private hospital when his condition did not improve.However, when his condition deteriorated on Tuesday morning, the family brought him back to Lohia Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.The family then staged a protest on the hospital premises, following which police were called. Kadri Gate police reached the hospital and pacified the family before sending the body for postmortem.Police said the exact cause of death would be known after the postmortem report is received, and further legal action would be taken based on the complaint.
