Kanpur: A man, aged around 30, was found hanging from a tree near a railway track in Ahirwan village under the Chakeri police station area of Kanpur on Sunday morning, triggering panic in the village.Villagers said they had gone out for a morning walk when they spotted the body hanging from a tree along the railway track. They immediately informed the police, following which a crowd gathered at the spot.Police took the body into custody and began efforts to identify the deceased. The scene was inspected and nearby people were questioned, but the deceased could not be identified.Police collected information about missing persons from nearby police stations and tried to establish the identity of the body. An investigation was launched from the angles of murder and suicide.Station in-charge Ajay Prakash Mishra said efforts to identify the body were continuing. He said the actual cause of death would become clear only after the postmortem report.
