T’puram: A 43-year-old man was found dead in Karamana River near Kundamankadavu on Sunday morning after an intensive search by a fire and rescue services (FRS) scuba diving team.According to officials, Vattiyoorkavu police received information around 6.30am that a person had entered the river at Arattukadavu section in Valiyavila ward of Thiruvananthapuram corporation. Based on the alert, the scuba diving team launched a search operation around 8.30am.The body was later spotted floating in the river, caught in the branches of a tree above the barrier, nearly 300m downstream from the location where the man was suspected to have entered the water. Rescue personnel retrieved the body and handed it over to police.The deceased was identified as Srinath V, 43, of Kundamankadavu Junction, Tirumala.Relatives and locals gathered at the site as the recovery operation was carried out. After completing the inquest procedures, the body was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram medical college for postmortem examination.Police said a case was registered under the provisions relating to an unnatural death, and further investigation is under way to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident. Officials said they are collecting statements from family members and witnesses as part of the investigation. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem report is received.
