Gurgaon: A 26-year-old man escaped an alleged abduction attempt after four armed men forcibly entered his car and told him they had been hired to kill him at Galleria Market. The incident took place on Monday night.Police said Sahil Arora, a resident of Sushant Lok-1, was safe and security had been provided to him. Investigators are probing the motive behind the suspected “attempt to abduct and kill him”. The accused fled after Sahil Arora used his “presence of mind” and drove away with the accused inside the car, police said. The suspects jumped out when they realised they were unable to control the vehicle, leaving weapons behind on the front seat, the complainant told police.According to police sources, Sahil had gone to the market for a coffee on Sept 21. “When he returned to his car and was about to get in, four men entered the vehicle and displayed weapons. They told him that they had received an order to kill him,” an officer said, adding that police were checking if they were toy guns. Sahil initially panicked but soon drove the car away, prompting the accused to jump out and flee. “Their weapons were left behind in the vehicle,” the officer added.Sahil informed his family and the police control room. A team from Sector 29 police station reached the spot and took the weapons into custody. Based on Sahil’s complaint, police registered a case under Section 140(3) (kidnapping or abduction with intent to wrongfully confine) of BNS and relevant provisions of the Arms Act. SHO was not available for comment.Investigators are examining the CCTV footage from cameras installed around Galleria Market and the surrounding area to identify the accused and reconstruct their movements before and after the incident. Police are also questioning Sahil and his family members to ascertain whether he or anyone in his family had an existing dispute or enmity with anyone.
