Pune: A man (50) died, while his wife (45) and daughter (19) were in critical condition on Saturday morning after they allegedly inhaled poisonous gas mixed with coal in their flat at Morwadi in Pimpri.Suhas Awhad, senior inspector of the Sant Tukaramnagar police, said, “The deceased’s wife, who is a teacher, and their daughter have been admitted to YCM Hospital for treatment. The two have been reported to be critical.”The police recovered a note from the second-floor rented flat. They moved to the flat two years ago. Awhad said, “About one-and-a-half years ago, the man had lost his job at the engineering company. He had been unemployed ever since. The family was going through a financial crisis. The note elaborated on this crisis. The same note has been found on his cellphone.”He added, “The family hailed from Kerala. They allegedly used some chemical or drug with coal and inhaled the fumes, apparently in an attempt to end their lives.“We have collected samples of the coal and other materials. We will be sending the samples for forensic analysis. We have informed their relatives about the incident,” he said.
