Vadodara: A 55-year-old man died after sustaining burn injuries during a fire performance at a Maha Shivratri procession in Garbada of Dahod district late Sunday night.The deceased was identified as Raman Rathod. Police said the incident took place during a cultural act by a troupe that included flame throwers. As part of the performance, a member of the troupe attempted to create a burning circle on the ground using an inflammable liquid. A Shivling was placed at the centre of the circle, and the performers staged the act around it, drawing a large crowd.

According to police, while lighting the circle, the flames travelled back through the inflammable liquid in the container. The performer reportedly ran from the spot and threw the burning bottle away.Rathod, who had come to watch the procession, was standing near the spot where the bottle was thrown and suffered serious burn injuries. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on Monday.Police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated further investigation.
