Kanpur: A 60-year-old man died hours after undergoing an intestine surgery at a private hospital in Kanpur, triggering a protest by his family, who alleged medical negligence and created a ruckus on the hospital premises late Wednesday.Police reached the New Shubh Hospital on Purana Shivli Road after receiving a Dial-112 call, pacified the agitated relatives and have initiated an investigation.Vikram, a resident of Durgapurwa under Nawabganj police station limits, said his father, Satyanarayan Nishad (60), had been suffering from severe abdominal pain and gas formation and was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday. After examination, doctors advised surgery, saying he had an intestinal problem.According to the family, the operation was performed on Wednesday. About an hour later, Nishad was shifted out of the operation theatre, but his condition continued to deteriorate. Doctors later declared him dead.The family claimed Nishad’s condition was stable before the surgery and alleged that he died due to negligence and a delay in providing proper treatment after his condition worsened.Kalyanpur SHO Keshav Kumar Tiwari said, “The deceased’s family has submitted a complaint alleging medical negligence by the doctors. The body has been sent for post-mortem. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.”
