Qazigund, August 30: A man died on the spot after falling from a walnut tree in the Damjan area of Qazigund in south Kashmir on Sunday leaving the local community in shock and grief.
The deceased was identified as Mohd Maqbool Bhat, son of Mohd Ramzan Bhat, a resident of Damjan, Qazigund.
According to local residents, Bhat reportedly fell from a slippery walnut tree while carrying out work to earn a livelihood for his family. He sustained critical injuries in the fall and died at the scene.
Locals said the deceased belonged to a financially poor family and was the sole breadwinner. He is survived by his wife and two young children.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Damjan, with residents expressing deep condolences to the bereaved family. Locals also prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength for the grieving family to bear the irreparable loss.
