COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police booked a 25-year-old man on charges of sending obscene photos to a young woman who refused to accept his love proposal.The woman, aged 23, works at a company here. When she was studying in a private deemed university here, Nandakumar from Dindigul district, who was her senior, expressed his love for her. She refused his proposal, according to police.Despite her refusal, Nandakumar continued to stalk her, prompting the woman to file a complaint with the university dean’s office. The university barred him from attending classes and allowed him to appear only for examinations.She completed her studies in March 2025. He again began to contact her over the phone and through social media. The woman blocked his number and social media accounts. Enraged, he created a fake account and sent obscene photos to her Instagram account.The woman filed a complaint with the Coimbatore Variety Hall Road police in April. Police questioned him, and he assured them that he would stop. Police warned him and made him delete the account and the obscene photos. However, he again contacted her through another fake Instagram account and sent obscene photos.The woman lodged a complaint with the Variety Hall police on Sunday. Police registered a case under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, read with Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act. Police have formed a team to apprehend the youth.
