Abohar: A young man was beaten to death outside a govt school in Abohar on Friday after he went to pick up his younger brother, who had allegedly been threatened by a village resident.Police have booked five named and four-five unidentified persons for murder and other offences.The deceased was identified as Lavpreet Singh. His brother, Gagandeep Singh, who studies in Class XI , told police that village resident Purushottam Kumar had threatened him over the phone and warned of an attack after school hours. Fearing an attack, Lavpreet went to the school to pick up Gagandeep.Purushottam allegedly arrived with associates armed with sharp-edged weapons and attacked the brothers. Both sustained serious injuries and were taken to a local hospital before being referred to Faridkot, where Lavpreet died during treatment.AAP functionary and former Abohar market committee chairperson Upkar Singh Jakhar expressed grief over the incident, saying that the deceased was a resident of his village. He demanded that the police administration promptly arrest the accused.Based on Gagandeep’s statement, the police have registered a case against Purushottam and Krishna, both residents of Saiyadanwali; Mukesh Kumar and Nitin, and four-five unidentified youths under sections 103, 115(2), 191(3), and 190 of the BNS. A postmortem examination of the deceased will be conducted on Friday.Abohar Sadar police station in-charge Sachin Kumar and additional in-charge Jaswinder Singh said separate teams have been formed to arrest the named and unidentified accused.
