Kanpur: A 25-year-old e-rickshaw driver died on Friday at LLR Hospital, nine days after he was allegedly attacked with tiles in Juhi area of the city when he stopped two youths from urinating outside a lane.The deceased, Jeetu, a resident of Military Camp Colony under the Juhi police station area, was admitted to a hospital. Police registered a case on the statement of his sister and arrested one accused. Jeetu is survived by his mother, Tirath Devi, elder brother Raja alias Kukku, sister Sanjana, and younger brother Golu.His brother Raja said that on March 4, Faheem, who also lives in the same area, was urinating in the lane, which younger brother Golu objected to. Following this, an intoxicated Faheem and Ansh abused and tried to assault him. Jeetu intervened and calmed the matter down.About two hours later, when Jeetu stepped out, Faheem and Ansh, allegdely surrounded him and assaulted him. Te accused struck Jeetu’s head and face with tiles, one after another, multiple times, leaving him bloodied and collapsed on the road. Juhi SHO KK Patel said that based on the statement of the deceased’s sister, Sanjana, a murder case was registered against accused Faheem and Ansh. Faheem was arrested. Meanwhile, teams were deployed to search for Ansh, who is absconding. tnn
