Kanpur: A 30-year-old man died during treatment after he was allegedly beaten with sticks and rods by another youth in Gopalpur village in the Ghatampur police station area, police said.Police reached the spot and took the injured man to Ghatampur CHC, where a doctor administered primary treatment and referred him in a critical condition to Kanpur District Hospital. The man died during treatment.Police informed the family members and sent the body for post-mortem. The incident is being investigated.Rajendra Kumar, a resident of Ashok Nagar Dakshin in the Ghatampur police station area, reached Ghatampur police station on Sunday afternoon and submitted a written complaint. He stated that his brother-in-law Vikrant alias Bablu was living in Gopalpur village in the Ghatampur police station area with his father Sudhir Kumar.According to the complaint, Vijay alias Kallu Sachan, a resident of the village, accused Vikrant of theft while drunk and beat him. After that, he fled, leaving him in a near-death condition. Rajendra Kumar said he reached the spot after receiving information and took the injured man to Ghatampur CHC, from where he was referred to Kanpur District Hospital, where he died during treatment.The brother-in-law filed a written complaint against the accused. Police sent the body for post-mortem and continued the investigation.Inspector Ghatampur police station Khurshid Ahmad said, “The post-mortem of the deceased’s body has been conducted. Further action will be taken on the basis of the written complaint.”
