Nagpur: The Local Crime Branch (LCB) Nagpur Rural has uncovered a cold-blooded murder disguised as an accidental death.The victim, Yogesh Sambhare (36), a resident of Kalmeshwar, went missing on May 11. His body was recovered from a well near a farm in Nimboli Upravahi on May 17, after which an accidental death case was initially registered under Section 194 of the BNS at Kalmeshwar police station.Acting under SP Harssh A Poddar and Addl SP Anil Mhaske, a special LCB team conducted a parallel probe. Through interrogation of relatives, technical evidence analysis, and secret informant inputs, the team exposed the murder plot.The accused, Dhanraj Modarkar (37), also from Nimboli, was arrested. During questioning, Modarkar confessed that he killed Sambhare after learning that the deceased was allegedly harassing and threatening his wife. On May 11, he struck Sambhare on the head with an axe in a field at Nimboli. The body was later dumped in a well to destroy evidence.A murder case has now been registered under various sections of BNS. The accused has been arrested and is in police custody.
