Bengaluru: A 24-year-old Rajasthan native has been arrested for allegedly stealing a KIA Seltos, parked on an empty site adjacent to its owner’s house, in Bagalur, north Bengaluru. The SUV, estimated to be worth Rs 8 lakh, was recovered from Barmer in Rajasthan.Vehicle owner Balaji told police that the SUV, purchased in 2020 in his wife’s name, was stolen after he parked it on Feb 26 next to his house. The vehicle was missing when he woke up around 6am the following day.The accused, Haribajan, is said to have confessed that he, along with associates, broke the window glass and windshield, connected the vehicle directly, and drove away. Based on his confession, the stolen car was recovered from the roadside near Kharad village along NH-68 in Barmer. Police said Haribajan’s family has allegedly been involved in several vehicle-theft cases. They take the stolen vehicles to Rajasthan and sell them without documents at a lower price.
