Shivamogga: Shivamogga district police arrested a man on charges of shooting a stray dog to death after it fought with his pet dogs at Channapura village in Sagar taluk.The accused, Lingamurthy, allegedly shot dead the stray following an argument with a village herder near his property on Thursday. Lingamurthy allegedly retrieved an illegal and unlicensed gun from his house and shot the stray dog, killing it instantly on the spot, police said.Following complaints and local outrage, Anandapura police station registered a case against Lingamurthy under various sections of the BNS and the Arms Act for illegal weapon use and animal cruelty. Police have seized the weapon and arrested the accused as investigations continue.
